THE VISUAL DICTIONARY ONLINE CHOSEN AS THIS YEAR’S BEST REFERENCE TOOL!

Montreal, Canada, May 25, 2009 – It was with great emotion that the team from Montreal’s QA International (QAI) received the New York Public Library’s prestigious Best of Reference award on May 7 for its web-based platform: visual.merriam-webster.com. A committee formed from public libraries in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens presents this award annually to designate the best reference tool from a shortlist of 25 books or websites in this category.

QAI’s vice president Caroline Fortin sees this as an invitation to continue posting visual reference tools online, which is why she is creating a team dedicated to website design. With good reason, she underlines the importance of meeting the growing need of internet users to access a world of knowledge with a single click. This promise is one she plans on keeping and that she hopes will allow her Quebec-based company to become a leader in the field.

It should be remembered that this ambitious project, born out of a fruitful collaboration with American publishing giant Merriam-Webster, is the result of work by editors, terminologists, illustrators and research assistants who pooled their know-how to show, name and define our surrounding world with clarity and precision.
